Secrets To Really Overcome Laziness

You have a target but often struggle to achieve it due to constant laziness. Don’t worry, in this video I’m gonna share with you some of the ways to overcome that laziness.

Join Charity Groups For Poor People

Joining groups who help the unfortunate ones will always help you to open up your eyes. You’ll start seeing the bigger picture of how your life would be like if you were not successful.

Your mentality starts to change in order to succeed in life & starts to remove negative behaviors such as laziness from your life

Now, I’m in no way saying to look down on those unfortunate people. The idea here is to see for yourself the life you’ll have by taking the lazy path.

While unfortunate people do not have a choice, you do. My suggestion simply opens up your mind to it.

Network With Successful People

I’ll be honest with you, I was a smart student who became cocky that keeps getting good grades despite not studying so hard

I became too cocky till I start making friends with wrong people & my life started to spiral down out of control for some time to come

Luckily, I realize how toxic these people are and eventually left them.

It was only after I met a group of smart people that I started to turn my life back around

You see, smart people are as infectious as wrong people

The more you interact with them, the better you become

You’ll start taking interests you never thought was possible to undertake

You’ll eventually start reading, talking and working like they do too.

Join Motivational Talks Or Events

One of the factors of laziness can be attributed by the lack of motivation

So, why not join events or talks given by motivational speakers who often capable of inspiring you to see the bigger picture

Inspirational speeches are powerful which can help to lift yourself from laziness to achieve success

If you’re too busy to attend these events, watch motivational speeches online or on Youtube. You’ll find plenty of credible people giving out inspiring talks to help you

Rotate Your Work/Study Environment

Do you often get bored or unmotivated to work in your boring, dark and uninspiring workspace? Well, we all do

Instead of just working at the same place over again, why not drive to the nearest cafe for a change. Nothing can go wrong when you have a cup of coffee next to you

If you don’t like coffee or tea (whats wrong with you), why not head to the public library too

The idea here is to constantly change the environment you’re working in so that you don’t feel unmotivated to work.

You feel you have the right idea. You know your company can make the difference in the market. Somewhow, you just can’t make that journey to success. You lack the productivity due to little to no motivation.

In today’s article, I’m sharing with you the 15 ways that can help to boost you productivity level.

1. Wake up Early (Hear Me Out)

This is the ‘early bird gets the worm’ saying. Many successful people swear by it. My personal favorite would be Mark Wahlberg’s schedule. He wakes up around 2 to 3am and start his day with workouts, and work afterwards. In a nutshell, he gets a lot of things done as people just about to get off bed.

There are numerous studies that point out how your work rate improves tremendously since your brain is fresh in the morning able to perform tasks at optimal level – making it the most ideal time to get many important things done early on.

However, I do also know successful people who get up later. If you’re a night owl, then trying to wake up early means you’re going against your body’s natural rhythm. Some even shared that night time is perfect as most inspiration comes around the hour. No one can argue if it’s the truth. Do whatever that works best for you.

However, I don’t recommend this since it causes a lot of setbacks to your body as multiple clinical researches have found that lack of ‘night’ sleep could potentially lead to a number of chronic diseases.

2. Stay away from distractions when you first wake-up.

You open your eyes first thing in the morning and instinctively grab your phone. This is a mistake according to brain performance expert Jim Kwik, you shouldn’t look at your phone for the first hour of the day.

The main reason is that your brain is highly suggestible during this time. As a result, this trains our minds to become distracted because of the release of dopamine we get from our electronic devices. Your productivity also takes a hit for the rest of the day because we want to keep experiencing those good feelings. So, instead of getting to work, we stay glued to our phones.

3. Eat breakfast.

No surprise here. You need fuel to give you the energy to power through the day. Of course, you shouldn’t devour a doughnut and wash it down with a sugary drink.

Think healthier options that involve high protein like eggs or protein shakes. Add in berries, raisins, avocados into green smoothies too and not to forget a boring cup of coffee.

On top of the energy you’ll receive, these types of foods are good for your brain by improving your concentration and memory.

If breakfast is not your thing, like Elon Musk, be sure to take a heavy brunch or lunch like he does when you get the chance to help fuel you to work for the rest of the day.

4. Exercise

If you exercise when you first wake-up, even before eating breakfast, you can overcome your grogginess. This will make it so much easier to start your day early rather than taking things slowly – which is a big ‘no’.

Remember, physical activity doesn’t just improve your overall health. Any manner of exercise will help you de-stress and clear your head.

5. Meditation and stillness.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve struggled with anxiety. If you’ve ever dealt with this, then you know it can sometimes be almost impossible to be present. It can also make falling asleep a chore or start your day with dread.

Meditating hasn’t wholly erased my anxiety. But it has made an enormous difference. It has helped calm me down and return my focus to what’s going on right now. Best of all? You can meditate whenever and wherever you like, whether if that’s right before bed, first thing when you wake, or when taking a break at work.

Practice meditating with good breathing techniques – it helps.

6. Make your bed.

I think my mom would love this entry, even though I don’t believe that I was a messy kid growing up. Anyway, making your bed is a great way to begin your day productively.

Frankly, I wasn’t really an achiever in making my bed. It was until I found I have sensitive skin that forced me to make it a habit. Turns out, bacteria are accummulated in bed if not care for it. I started making bed after knowing this and went the extra mile to spray the bed sheet and pillows with special antiseptic to kill bacteria that irritated my skin.

The importance of making bed is crucial as it sets your mindset to a winning mentality. During his 2014 commencement speech at the University of Texas, US Admiral William H. McRaven said:

“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.”

7. Recite affirmations.

Initially, I was someone can be seen as reserved. I don’t talk much back then. I just had own priorities to work on. This was something I knew had to work on since building a great business requires you to network with people.

This was where I found out about affirmations. Simple affirmations like “Today will be the best day” can make all the difference in the world. They help you focus on what you want to achieve. These affirmations release ‘positive thought’ neurons’ that can help you build you winning mindset.

8. Read.

Except for taking care of your health, reading is the best thing you can do for yourself. It helps you develop new ideas and perspectives. It helps reduce stress, expands your knowledge, and improves brain function such as memory, focus, and concentration.

If you’ve done enough research about Warren Buffett, or the late Steve Jobs, you’d know how much these people love to read. Truth is, no matter how smart or successful you are, you should never stop learning.

When I started running my businesses, reading got me to stay up to date with latest development in my industry. The business I was in changes frequently, so there was a lot of adapting to do from time to time. This is where reading helped me to remain competitive.

9. Schedule your time.

Mark Cuban once said how he’s not bothered much by ROI (Return On Investment) but more concerned about his ROT (Return On Time). This is an indication of how important time is. It is obvious that unlike, money, you can’t make back the time invested – unless it’s worth the effort. This is why scheduling your time is essential.

If you don’t schedule your time, then you’re going to wander aimlessly and having no direction is the last thing you want whilst running your business. Sure. You know that certain things need to get done. But, which ones are your priorities?

When exactly are you going to cross them off your to-do-list? Are there deadlines that you must adhere to? Creating a schedule helps you answer these questions and plan accordingly.

10. Pare down your decisions.

We all have a limited amount of brainpower. If you spend too much energy making low-level decisions, then you’ll experience decision fatigue. You won’t be as productive when you’re mentally drained.

Look at Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Ma, Bill Gates and so many successful people – what do they have in common other than great work ethics? They don’t get bogged down with looking rich. As long as they have proper attire on, they are good to go. Their priorities are ‘parked’ elsewhere.

I suggest that every night, you layout your wardrobe and prep your meals for tomorrow. Or, you could do this for the entire week on a Sunday. The idea here is to reserve your energy and willpower for what truly matters.

11. Put pen to paper.

There’s a routine called Morning Pages practiced by people ranging from journalist Oliver Burkeman and entrepreneur Tim Ferriss.

The idea is that when you first wake, write 750 words to clear your head. For me, this is the time I’d normally write down (or go through) my to-do list for the day. It will keep me focused on getting those tasks done for the day.

And science has also found that handwriting can spark creativity and help us learn.

12. Focus on yourself.

With so much going on in your life, it’s easy to neglect your own self-care and priorities. Over time, you’ll get burned out. No matter how amazing of a person you are, everyone needs time to rest, play, and learn. If you don’t put yourself in your schedule, then it will get filled with other time requests.

13. Practice gratitude.

It’s been found that those who spend five minutes writing down what they’re grateful for have increased their sense of well-being by 10 percent.

And, as you know, when you’re a better mood, you’re more productive.

You can also pray – thanking everything you have and have accomplished if you’re the religious type.

14. Socialize with your teammates.

Advertisements

Socializing with people have been found to have positive effects to your general happiness, and healthier lifestyle.

This certainly does not mean you should be socializing with people all the time – that’s time wasting.

Instead, schedule your time to allow yourself to kick back, relax and meet people to socialize.

Try working in a coworking space or catching up with a friend or colleague for lunch. And, worst-case scenario, schedule a conference call with your team.

15. Set hard time limits on certain activities.

This idea is similar to ‘Shooting for the moon. If you missed it, you’ll at least land on one of the stars.’ If you need a grade B, work like you’re an A student. If you need $1 million, work like you’re worth $10 million.

This may sound overwhelmingly difficult at first. However, by constantly setting up tough tasks – your mind and body will get attuned to such conditions. At the end of it, what you thought was impossible, was actually do-able.

Conclusion

If you’ve experienced long enough time as an entrepreneur, you’ve learned that there is no one cure for every disease.

In this case, some methods work perfectly for you while others don’t. Every entrepreneur and his or her business is different. So you need to mix and match what works best for you.

How To Stop Procrastinating With 2 Minute Rule

You start a few lines on computer, then your mind wanders off for a moment. You type a few more lines, then you decide to watch funny videos on internet.

Does this happen to you often?

Do you feel you procrastinate a lot?

Today, I’m gonna share with you a method which helped me to overcome procrastination.

The Two Minute Rule

“When you start a new habit, it should take less than two minutes to do.”

I went through quite a roller coaster in my life. From being a straight A’s (we had grades during my time) student, to almost failing in exams due to cockiness, and then slowly rebuilding myself to becoming someone with a degree in mechanical engineering and MBA.

Having these flashbacks, I decided to share with you a method to cast a new habit into your life.

The idea behind the two minute rule is to make it easy to create new habits.

Anyone can work for one minute or read one page. Or anyone can work on a difficult task each day too.

This is a powerful strategy because once you’ve started doing the right thing, it is much easier to continue doing it.

A new habit should not feel like a challenge. There should be less barrier to it.

People often underestimate this rule. They feel it’s strange to get hyped about reading one page or making one sales call per day. They argue it’s counter productive while those who stand by it, argue that it’s a long term process.

But the point is not to do one thing. The point is to master the habit of showing up. The truth is, a habit must be established before it can be perfected.

As you master the art of showing up, the first two minutes simply become a ritual at the beginning of a larger routine.

This is not merely a strategy to make habits easier but actually the ideal way to master a difficult skill.

Strategies like this work for another reason too: they reinforce the identity you want to build.

For example, if you decide to read on a topic everyday—even if it’s just for two minutes—you are instilling a new habit for your identity.

You’re not worried about mastering the topic – which can be overwhelming when starting out.

You’re just focused on becoming the type of person who doesn’t miss reading about it.

You’re taking the smallest action that leads to giant outcome. And like every giant leap, it starts with a small step.

That’s it for me today.

I hope this article has been helpful for you to overcome the giant obstacle between you and success.

Let me know what you think in the comment below whether this method works for you. Keep grinding and hustling.

Execute.

7 Qualities That Will Make You Rich

When you see successful people, you seldom think about what lies underneath all the cool lifestyle they exhibit.

Many people dream to achieve success but often struggle due to lack of understanding the qualities required.

Today, I’m sharing the top 7 qualities that will make you rich.

1. Become known for one thing

People often feel proud whenever they tell you they have many talents.

While this can be seen as an ‘ego-booster’ for many, the reality is that it can be both a blessing and a curse.

“He who catches two rabbits at once will catch none.” – German proverb

Attempting to achieve various things at once can drive you to the brink of depression as you try relentlessly to try fit them all into your packed-tight schedule.

You might feel you can do it at first, I felt the same too, but as time goes by, you’ll start begin to worn out. When that happens, you’ll start losing focus on ALL things.

I know that sometimes, you feel you need to make the best out of the time available to you – I’ve been there. Then, I realize that it only accelerate my exhaustion level.

So, why should you focus on one thing at a time?

To start, our brain has shown that it works best when concentrated one thing at a time.

In fact, a research by Stanford University that frequent multi-taskers were actually worse at multitasking.

They even performed worse because they had more trouble organizing their thoughts and filtering out irrelevant information.

Researchers at the University of Sussex in the UK also found that multi-taskers suffer from cognitive impairment affecting their empathy as well as cognitive and emotional control.

Apart from health concerns, if you look at those who are exceptionally successful, you’ll see how often they champion the idea of ‘focusing getting things done – one at a time’.

“Focus and be known for one thing.” – Anonymous

“Your life is controlled by what you focus on.” – Tony Robbins

By becoming known for one thing, the word gets out about you and your business much faster than someone who ‘multi-tasks a lot and known to be an average at a lot of things’.

People are more likely to come to you since you’re the best – some might even fly to you and vice versa.

Start focus today. Be known for one thing.

2. WILLINGNESS TO MAKE SACRIFICES

“Whenever you see a successful person, you only public glories. never the private sacrifices to reach them.” – Vaibhav Shah.

We often see the successes of people, but can never learn enough from the struggles they went through.

Being an entrepreneur will make you realize that the lifestyle you want doesn’t come for easily.

“The dream is free, the hustle is sold separately.” – Anonymous

Real entrepreneurs are not only able to see the opportunity, they are also willing to do what it takes to earn it. They respect the dream and know there’s a price to pay.

On the other hand, if you see entrepreneurship as a way out of your 9-5pm job, or because you enjoy less time working, then, you’re stepping into a ‘sinking ship’.

This is what separates between successful entrepreneurs and ‘wanna-preneurs’.

When I started out, I had to care for both my parents down with chronic diseases. That along with running businesses – I had to make tough decisions and sacrifices along the way, some I’m not particularly proud of but had to be done. I’m glad I made it through today.

That’s entrepreneurship. There’s no easy way up. It’s a rollercoaster.

It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it IF you’re smart about it.

3. SELF-MOTIVATION

“Don’t focus on the risks. Focus on the rewards.” – Anonymous

Life will get harder in your journey as an entrepreneur; and to be honest, you’re in this alone in the beginning.

Unlike your job, there’s no one to motivate you but yourself. You have no boss, no peers – you get the idea.

You’d argue “what about partners, investors etc?”

Well, they can only recommend you on the direction and decision making the company should take – but at the end of day, you’re the driving force that should get things done.

You’re your own motivator.

Yes your family and friends will be around you, but what lies within yourself is where you REALLY make the difference.

There will come a number of times where your brain will start to wonder – and start telling you to doubt, stop and give up.

Why not? After all, your business is not making much progress after 1, 2, 3 years. Savings all dried up. There’s nothing left you could do.

This situation alone might scare off most people away.

But successful entrepreneurs know better. They see the risks but they focus on the outcome. This is one of the best ways to motivate yourself. See the rewards, not the struggles.

In addition, you also need to find various amount of motivational quotes and to keep it as mantra in case you start feeling worn out.

Create reminders of what success would look like, or any possessions (e.g. mansion, yacht etc) you desire to own. Do whatever it takes to remind that you need to work harder if you want to achieve it.

If you’re unable to motivate yourself, you’re in tough luck and better off working a job.

4. Define your goal daily

“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal.

A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan.

A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.”

If you’re an admirer of various successful people, I’m sure you’ve come across the importance of writing down your goals every single day.

This is a habit most entrepreneurs live by; as it helps you an impulse to act on a daily basis.

By setting your goals, you’ll start to wake up ‘with a plan’ rather than ‘to have a plan’.

This attitude helps to start your day as productive you can – not wasting time trying to figure out ‘what to do today’.

When you set the goals every day it helps you to define priorities and keep the most important things on the first place.

The initial identification of priorities is one of the most important things you need to do.

Focus on getting the most profitable activities done early, and then everything else. Soon, you’ll discover the best route to your success.

5. Practice resilience

“The task ahead of you is never greater than the strength WITHIN you.” – Anonymous

“Resilience is the ability to fall, pick ourselves up from the floor quickly, learn and continue with the journey.” – Anonymous.

Resilience is key to success. It gives you an advantage over people who choose to give up the moment they face failure.

You can be the smartest person in the room – who are also not spared from failures; but if you lack the discipline to keep going, you ought to fail as well.

I’m a big saver. In fact, I enjoy saving money especially being able to see my money grows every month at the bank and eventually investment. Of course, I desire for luxurious possessions in life, but I knew I had to keep my grit and carry on saving money.

I’ve tried most which entrepreneurs went through (except being homeless) e.g. eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches almost everyday, had to juggle between taking care both my parents and my business, and so on.

Today, majority of the savings are in investments. I can live comfortably from the returns alone. I do still save, but slowly, I start to increase my expenses a little bit so I get to enjoy after all the years of sacrifices.

“If you don’t give up, you still have a chance ….” – Jack Ma

You cannot avoid ups and downs along the way but you need to find within yourself to uphold a strong spirit to accomplish your short and long-term goals.

6. Obey the “Rule of 500”

In a nutshell, you need to offer your services or products to at least 500 people per month in order to become a millionaire.

Of course, this depends on the nature of your business i.e. profit margin etc. What’s being pointed out here is to get your product in front of as many people; and quick.

There will be large number of refusals – but this is just part of sales. You just need to be ready for it.

7. Long Term & Short Term Plans

“You have to believe in the long term plan but you need the short term goals to motivate and inspire you.” – Roger Federer

Everything you’ve done in life so far has been for the immediate future.

Mankind functions in strange ways where we mostly know the importance of long term plan – and yet, we still seek for a shortcut.

If you wish to be successful in life, your mindset needs to be re-wired quick.

You need to stop looking for shortcuts, there isn’t one. There are large numbers of successful people can attest to that.

To be honest with you:

It will take between 7 and 10 years to change your life.

You’re probably getting discouraged hearing this – and opting for Netflix instead.

If you’re that person, that’s good. You’ve just saved yourself from 10 years of hard work to success – than decades of average work to just being average.

Being successful requires you to think ahead and take actions now which will have an impact over the long term.

Successful people often look at the rewards of hardship; and then deconstruct it into short term plans to achieve that end game. This mentality is what’s going to help you pivot towards success.

It works similar like reverse engineering a product. You tear it into pieces trying to figure how it works and being made.

Start Doing These & You Will Never Be Lazy Again!

ANIMATED INFOGRAPHICS 1 (1)

You wake up in the morning, unmotivated and lazy to start hustling.
You tend to procrastinate each day on starting the day till you eventually doze off to early nap.
Don’t worry, this is normal. Today, I’m gonna share with you the things to help you to never be lazy again.

1) Work somewhere else.

  • You need to work in different environment if your cubicle (or office) is driving you crazy.
  • Go to coffee shop, co working space, or even the park to lighten the mood of your work environment.
  • In addition, a study suggests that a change in work environment helps with memory retention too.
  • If you company does not offer flexible working environments, try decorating your workspace to make the environment more livable. Make seasonal decorations too so your office outlook does not look the same all the time – boring.
  • When I first started out, I can’t stress you enough how it played an important role ensuring me to remain driven to work till late night.
  • Try change your environment day and you’ll see dramatic change in your productivity and self-motivation.

2. Create a checklist of the goals you want to accomplish

  • An accomplish time manager is the master of listing priorities and getting them done in timely manner.
  • Checking them off the list as you accomplish each one will give you the motivation that you need to keep going and finish other goals.
  • Put copies of your checklist everywhere especially on your phone, as this will allow you to see it often. I use Google Calendar often as it syncs throughout all my devices to keep me updated for daily activities. There’s plenty options out there, but I feel Google Calendar works best for me. Try a couple different platforms yourself and decide which works best for you.
  • Once you start seeing check marks accumulating, you will want to keep going. You’ll be able to have a visual image of what you have been working towards and what you’re capable of doing. This accomplishment will help build momentum and it feels good.

3. Reward yourself for your achievements, whether big or small.

  • To help you start overcoming laziness for good, give yourself something to look forward to.
  • When you are looking forward to something, it can actually stop laziness from even starting in the first place. Remember this. Keep it as your mantra too.
  • Determine goals for yourself and then set rewards accordingly. This can help you keep your reward in mind while you are doing a task, and therefore keep your motivation going.
  • For example, add in some small breaks between your short (but focused) bursts of work.
  • Start small, e.g. 15 minutes and take small breaks in between. Give time for yourself to adjust, and, then increase work time to 45 minutes before taking another small break.

4. Eat high-protein foods

  • Do you always feel tired or sluggish throughout the whole day making you feel lazy? Make adjustments to your diet.
  • Some foods increase your energy and keep your blood sugar stable.
  • Consume high-protein foods such as: Greek yogurt, almonds, eggs, tuna
  • Avoid from consuming high sugar food. These types of food will only benefit for short time, then, your energy level comes down.
  • You can consumer sugary foods to overcome tiredness, but this will obviously will impact your body to exhaustion and eventually to diabetes.

5. Listening to self-criticism.

  • While self-criticisms can be good, it can also devastate your mentality if done wrong.
  • Some people criticize themselves too much till they tend to take it too personally not enabling self to learn from it.
  • They are too focused on the failures, instead of finding a solution from that failures.
  • The idea here is to self-criticize enough till you can identify the problem so you can create solution in order to progress. Then, you move on. Don’t dwell on it too much.

6. Work in intervals

  • In the same vein, when you stare down the barrel of your 8-hour workday, it can be overwhelming.
  • Rather than think about everything you need to do today, think about the next 10 minutes only.
  • You will find that things get done much faster and without your brain even realizing you’re exerting much effort.
  • Start with an easy task.
  • People say to work on the toughest task early to get it out of the way. I disagree as starting your day to overcome a huge task tends to demoralize yourself to work for the day.
  • Instead, work on the smallest task as a warm-up to build momentum. Get the morning blues out of the way.
  • Once you’re warmed up and your mind is ‘in the zone’, work on the tough ones.
  • Remember, being an entrepreneur is like running a marathon.

7. Exercise, just a little.

  • Exercise can help you improve several aspects of your life, including your productivity and ability to stop being lazy.
  • It can also give you more energy. Having more energy means you will feel more awake at work.
  • I’m not suggesting you to train for a marathon, just give yourself a 10 minute walk. Remember, 10-minute chunks of time can help you get a lot done.
  • Another thing I like to do is to go for a short walk after lunch. This helps me to remain alert throughout the day.

The ONE Secret On How To Get First Job As Consultant/Freelancer?

Are you a struggling freelancer or consulting firm that could not get clients that pay well? You’ve done everything in the book and yet it does not yield the result you seek.

Don’t worry, I’m gonna share with you my first hand experience to get big clients signed for you.

THE ONE SECRET

To begin with: the method I’m about to share is nothing new. However, since I have not seen many who talk about it, I thought why not to share it with you.

When I first started out on my own, there weren’t much tips on how to get the first job as a freelancer/consultant other than the typical methods that you can simply pick off from business books or websites.

Initially, I started out using traditional methods, I set up my social media accounts, my website & told my friends & family about it. I even paid for advertisements on some of the online platforms. It seemed like I’ve done everything on the book.

Still, there was not much traffic, or leads for me to pursue. For the first 2 months, I struggled to find a single job that pays well.

I contemplated, became worried. But I continued.

What happened next? After giving much thought, I decided to give it another shot

I started offering my services for free. I emailed businesses and on some occasions, I went to their offices and offered my skills for free.

They were surprised and couldn’t believe it. It sounded too good to be true. But they agreed nonetheless. Why wouldn’t they?

I did it for another 3 more times. People told me I was dumb. But there’s a catch.

I had a long term plan.

Firstly, the 3 brands I worked with are well known brands in my field. By working with them, I can then start promoting myself as not only someone who have done work with 3 brands. But 3 GIANT brands.

When people see that I’ve worked with popular brands, it attracts attention.

They sensed that you must be worth the money and wouldn’t mind paying you for future jobs.

From one referral led to another. I continued getting jobs till I no longer able to work on my own.

So, that’s my secret to getting the first job as a consultant or freelancer.
